Stresa and Islands Borromeo

Island Bella lies just off Stresa. Here you can find the famous Mansion Borromeo, meant for the distinguished guests and built beginning from the 17th century by the noble house of Borromeo. The Fishermen’s island lies to the north of Island Bella and was inhabited by simple fishermen. In the small village you can walk along old houses with wooden balconies and granite portals. Island Madre is situated in the middle of the Gulf Borromeo and is the biggest island of Lake Maggiore.
