During our private and personalised Danube Swabian tour, we will visit villages and towns where your ancestors lived. We will enter the churches where they were baptised and married, schools they attended and their former homes. You will learn about the life and customs of Danube Swabians in the Pannonian Plain, their history and when and how they were colonised in Banat, Batschka or Syrmia. We will also visit some museums where items of Danube Swabian heritage are on display and places of their suffering after World War II when they were interned to detention camps for years. Afterwards, the Yugoslav government left them to leave to Austria, Germany and overseas, but their hearts stayed here where their ancestors worked hard on the plains of Vojvodina and in 200 years converted the marshlands into fertile fields.
